DeVito’s Restaurant, Established in 1934 by Sam DeVito and his wife Rosemary Niosi was located in Washington, DC at 10th and H street NW. DeVito’s remained in this location until 1977. During the 40+ years in DC, DeVito’s was the Italian standard. People came from all across the city, Maryland and Virginia to feel like they’re having dinner with Nonna.
Sam’s sons Michael and Chris, and Mike’s wife Anita D’Agostino, moved to the beach in 1981 and opened up on 143rd Street and Coastal Highway. The brothers took the business that their parents had so carefully built and added their own twist, Mike’s fresh baked bread. Let’s be honest, the is bread is king and our bread rules Delmarva. DeVito’s bread is baked fresh, daily using only a handful of ingredients, no preservatives, hand rolled every single morning with no shortcuts.

Good tasting sandwich but definitely not worth $17. Got the Roman Prince and they were very skimpy with the toppings. Barely any lettuce, tomato, and banana peppers…a little disappointed.

If you’re in Ocean City and craving a great sandwich, this place is a local gem that’s worth checking out. It’s been a longtime favorite in the area, and after finally giving it a try, I can see why—I’ve been coming back ever since.
The sandwiches are excellent: made with fresh, in-house baked bread that really elevates each bite. No matter which one you choose, the flavor and quality stand out. Prices are very reasonable for the portion size and freshness.
Service is another highlight. Even during the busy lunch rush, the staff stays friendly, patient, and efficient, which makes for a consistently pleasant experience.
Bonus tip: These sandwiches hold up well if you’re taking them to go—they make a perfect lunch the next day after a beach weekend.

Hands down the best sandwich place in the world. We’ve been loyal customers for over 10 years and it’s a MUST have every year we come to Ocean City. We drive 15 hours just for the subs!! You won’t find anything better! The people, the food, just all around amazing. I’d give Devitos more stars if I could. It’s that good.
